by Simon J Woolf

Simon J Woolf 05/09/2018

Geyerhof - Grüner Veltliner Steinleithn 2016
Producer: Geyerhof
Wine name: Grüner Veltliner Steinleithn
Year: 2016
Classification: Kremstal DAC
Variety: Gruner Veltliner
Country: Austria
Region: Kremstal
Style: White
ABV: 13.5
Score (20): 18
Event: ÖTW Erste Lage Preview Tasting 2018

Very herbal and tertiary, as seems typical for Geyerhof in this vintage. Quite tight, spicy fruit with hints of rambutan and lychee. Strong character, maybe some oak maturation notes that are slightly clouding the fruit at present? Still, this is an individual and fascinating effort.
