The acidity provides a lot of drive and excitement. Ripe citrus peel with fresh thyme and wild herbs. Satisfying, restrained but mouth filling – fairly short on the finish, but the expressive nose provides such a lot of pleasure.
Broad and leesy, with ripe lime and a nice lick of wet stone that provides freshness – acidity is on the low side, but the mineral notes bring balance and harmony. No need to age, this is best enjoyed young.
Super spicy, honeyed apple fruit, with incredible concentration yet finesse – the result is electric acidity and concentration, with lime, angelica root and salty, schisty minerals freshening up the palate. Very fine indeed.
Attractive fruit expression, but a little on the flabby side – there is Riesling character in the tangy fruit, but a lack of drive and excitement. The finish is surprisingly vegetal for this young wine.
A pleasure to taste Kremstal Riesling at this slightly lower ripeness level. The acids and fruit profile are almost in Mosel territory, with attractive tartness and crisp citrus notes. The nose is a charmer, with hints of white blossoms and lime. Tight and refreshing.
A very focused, if almost mono-thematic reading of this wonderful vineyard, with pear fruit and some lees character. The restrained ripeness level is appreciated, but there is a hint of bitterness on the finish which is distracting.
Expressive on the nose, fresh lemonade and zest. Upfront acids that unfold to a fine, silky finish. A little brusque on the attack at the moment, and bone dry on the finish – another year and this might be singing.
Delicate, scented nose with hints of wild herbs and flint. The nuance continues in the mouth, with delightful gooseberry and citrus fruit. There’s energy and a real sense of finesse, and enough stuffing to make this one to age.
Herby with a touch of angelica (candied peel) on the nose, nervy and mouth wateringly fresh on the palate – but with some body too. The slate and crystalline soils seem to express themselves well. Lacking depth and complexity right now, worth waiting a year or two.
